Everyone thinks Ivy Bennett is an autistic fool, so her family sends her to marry Alessandro Valenti in her sister’s place. He’s the feared Mafia Don confined to a wheelchair, and they expect Ivy to die by his side. But Ivy has a secret no one knows: she can understand animals. A peacock warns her of poison. A wounded K9 exposes a hidden injury. A starving horse leads her to a billion-dollar deal. Even a stray cat uncovers a buried inheritance. As Ivy saves Alessandro again and again, the “useless fool” becomes the one woman the most powerful Don would kill to protect.
