Haunted by deep guilt over engineering the catastrophic biological pathogen that brought human society to collapse, Dale travels across desolate city ruins alongside his young son, Noah. Arriving at a heavily guarded military refuge in search of medical assistance, Dale is instantly identified by Carla, a resident physician who remembers his scientific past.
